On-page SEO

On-page SEO services

Most service businesses already have the pages they need. They just don't rank, or they rank and don't convert. On-page SEO fixes the page itself: what it targets, how it is structured, what it says and where it sends people.

On-page SEO is the optimization of an individual page so it ranks for the searches it deserves and converts the people who land on it: intent match, title tag, headings, body copy, internal links, schema and the call to action. It is for service businesses whose pages exist but underperform, especially the service pages that should be producing calls.

The problem

One 'Services' page that ranks for nothing.

Signs your pages need on-page work

  • Titles like 'Services | Company Name' or 'Home'
  • Several pages competing for the same search
  • A service page with no FAQ, no pricing guidance and one generic button
  • Rankings stuck on page two for terms you should own
  • Traffic that arrives and leaves without calling

The typical local business website has a single Services page that lists everything the company does in a few bullets. That page cannot rank for a dozen different searches at once, and it gives a visitor with one specific problem nothing to act on. Each service you offer deserves its own page, targeted at one keyword cluster, structured for the way people search for it and written to turn a visit into a call.

The second common failure is the opposite: pages exist for every service, but they share the same title pattern, the same three paragraphs with the service name swapped, and no internal links between them. Google sees near-duplicates, picks one at random, and the rest sit idle.

On-page SEO is the discipline of fixing both. It is less expensive than new content because the page and its history already exist; it is often the fastest-moving work we do because Google re-evaluates an updated page as soon as it is re-crawled.

What we optimize

Every element on the page that Google and your customer read.

  • Search intent

Emergency, commercial and informational searches want different pages. We match each page to one intent instead of trying to serve all three.

  • Title tags and meta

A title that names the service, the area and a reason to click, within the length Google shows. Meta descriptions written to earn the click, not stuff keywords.

  • Heading structure

One H1, logical H2s that mirror the questions people ask, H3s for the specifics. Headings are how Google and AI engines outline your page.

  • Body copy

Specific, plain-spoken copy about what you do, how it works, what it costs in rough terms and what happens next. No filler.

  • Internal links

Links from and to related service, area and guide pages with descriptive anchors, so authority flows and visitors find the next step.

    Explore
  • Schema markup

Service, FAQPage, LocalBusiness and BreadcrumbList schema that matches what is visible on the page.

  • FAQ sections

The questions customers actually ask before they call, answered directly. These feed featured snippets and AI answers.

  • Calls to action

A clear primary action above the fold, repeated where decisions happen, with trust signals beside it. A page that ranks but doesn't convert is a cost.

The anatomy

What a service page that ranks and converts contains.

We audit every existing page against this list before we touch it, and build every new one to meet it.
  • One primary keyword cluster, with secondary terms used naturally
  • A title tag and H1 that name the service and the market
  • An opening paragraph that answers 'what is this and is it for me'
  • Headings that follow the customer's questions in order
  • Service specifics: what is included, how long it takes, what affects price
  • Service-specific FAQs with FAQPage schema
  • Trust signals: licensing, reviews, photos of real work, guarantees you actually offer
  • A clear call to action above the fold and again at the end
  • Internal links to related services, area pages and guides
  • Service and LocalBusiness schema that validates
  • Mobile layout that loads fast and reads cleanly
  • No near-duplicate sibling pages competing for the same search

Scope

On-page SEO is not content SEO or technical SEO.

The three overlap, and most plans include all of them. It helps to know which problem each one solves.

Not on-page SEO

  • Writing new articles or guides (that is content SEO)
  • Fixing crawl errors, speed or indexing (that is technical SEO)
  • Earning links from other sites
  • Managing your Google Business Profile
  • Rewriting pages with more keywords and nothing else

On-page SEO

  • Assigning one target to each existing page and removing overlap
  • Rewriting titles, headings and copy to match intent
  • Adding FAQs, schema and trust signals to pages you already have
  • Building the internal links between service, area and guide pages
  • Improving the conversion path on the page itself

How it works

An on-page sprint, page by page.

  1. Page inventory and intent map

Every URL on the site, what it currently ranks for, what it should target and which pages overlap. This is where cannibalization gets found.

  2. One page, one target

Each page is assigned a primary keyword cluster and an intent. Overlapping pages are merged, redirected or re-targeted.

  3. Rewrite titles, headings and copy

Starting with the pages that have the most to gain: service pages ranking just off page one, and high-traffic pages that don't convert.

  4. Internal linking pass

Links added between related pages with descriptive anchors, and from high-authority pages down to the ones that need help.

  5. Schema, metadata and FAQs

Structured data and FAQ sections added and validated so Google and AI engines can read the page the way a customer does.

  6. Measure and iterate

Search Console shows which queries and pages moved after re-crawl. Pages that didn't respond get a second pass.

Timeline

What a typical on-page sprint looks like.

On-page changes are re-evaluated when Google re-crawls the page, which makes this some of the faster-moving work in SEO. Timing still depends on crawl frequency and competition.
  • Week 1

Inventory, intent map and priority list

  • Weeks 2–4

Rewrites, schema and internal links ship

  • Weeks 6–12

Re-crawl and measurement window in Search Console

FAQ

On-page SEO services questions

What is the difference between on-page SEO and content SEO?
On-page SEO improves pages you already have: targeting, structure, copy, links and schema. Content SEO creates new pages and articles to cover topics you don't yet rank for. Most sites need some of both; on-page work usually comes first because it is faster and cheaper.
How many pages do you optimize?
Each plan includes content optimization for a set number of pages per month, from 15 on the Foundation plan up to 60 on Market Dominance. We start with the pages that have the most to gain and work through the rest in priority order.
Will you rewrite my pages completely?
Only when the existing copy is thin or wrong. More often we restructure what is there, tighten the opening, add the specifics and FAQs customers are looking for and fix the title and headings. You review every change before it goes live.
What is keyword cannibalization and how do you fix it?
It is when two or more of your pages target the same search, so Google splits the signal between them and neither ranks well. We fix it by giving each page a distinct target, merging true duplicates and redirecting the weaker page to the stronger one.
Do on-page changes help with AI search?
Yes. AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity pull from pages with clear headings, direct answers and valid schema. The same structure that helps a page rank makes it easier for an AI engine to quote.
